IED attacks | Explosion kills commander of group of settled-status members in Damascus countryside
Damascus countryside Governorate – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:
Reliable sources have informed the Syrian Observatory that an explosion occurred in the village of Kafr al-Awameed in Damascus countryside, yesterday evening, caused by an IED exploded in a vehicle carrying the commander of a group of about 40 settled-status members in the area of Wadi Barada, which are working with the regime’s Fourth Division. The explosion left the commander dead.
On July 2, SOHR activists reported hearing a loud explosion in Saqba city and surrounding areas in the eastern Ghouta. According to SOHR sources, the explosion was caused after throwing explosive materials by unknown assailants at a checkpoint affiliated to the regime’s military security in the city, leaving five members of the checkpoint wounded.
After the explosion, sporadic gunfire was heard nearby the checkpoint, but it is not known if it was an armed attack on the checkpoint or caused by regime soldiers themselves for fear of another attack on the checkpoint.
