“De-escalation zone” | Turkish forces cut down dozens of trees in Kaljabrin, and evade paying land rent

SOHR sources say that the Turkish military base in the village of Kaljabrin cut down dozens of pistachio trees near the base, without paying compensation to the owners.

At most of the Turkish military posts that have been deployed over the past period in the “de-escalation zone”, Turkish forces refrain from paying land rents to the owners on which they have set up their posts, while paying a very small sum of money to the owners of the houses that have turned into military barracks.

The Turkish forces stationed in observation posts and military bases in north Syria, are still refraining from paying the rent of lands on which these posts and bases are stationed.

On January 6, the Syrian Observatory activists reported that Turkish forces, stationed at “Observation” post in the town of Morek in northern rural, continue to refrain from paying the rent of the land on which its post is located.

SOHR reliable sources have confirmed that the Turks had not paid the land’s rents on which the Turkish post in Murek has been stationed for more than two years, to its owner (M.M.).

“Although the land owner agreed with (Al Sham Corps) faction, which has close ties to Turkey, that the lessee has to pay $700 for each dunam of land.

The contract expired in early June and was not renewed despite the fact that Turkish forces remained in positions, but on the contrary, Turkish forces expanded their presences by taking more ground and started cutting down pistachio trees”, SOHR sources added.
