Idlib | ISIS cell leader killed in clashes with HTS

Idlib Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: SOHR activists have documented the killing of the leader of an ISIS cell after exchange of fire with HTS security forces, during the HTS’s security campaign in the early hours of Wednesday morning in the northern countryside of Idlib.

SOHR sources reported earlier this morning that “Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham” carried out a new security campaign in Sarmada and Sarmin in rural Idlib in the early hours of Wednesday morning. HTS security forces raided several headquarters and positions where they arrested several people for “belonging to ISIS”, while clashes erupted between the raiding forces and ISIS members who refused to hand themselves in.

On Monday, SOHR activists said that HTS executive force raided a house in Sarmin town, east of Idlib city, where they clashed with six of wanted men for “belonging to the Islamic State and destabilizing security in” HTS-controlled areas. The raiding forces killed one person and arrested the others.
