US-Russian skirmishes in NE Syria | US forces block Russian patrol heading to Smelka border crossing

Syrian Observatory activists have monitored Russian patrol of six vehicles heading from Al-Qamishli airbase to Al-Malikiyyah town, attempting to reach Smelka crossing on the border with Kurdistan Region of Iraq. As always, US forces blocked the Russian patrol near Shukr Khaj and the junction of Rubarya village. The US forces also set several roadblocks on the road to the border crossing.

SOHR sources reported previously that Observatory activists monitored U.S. forces blocking a patrol of Russian police nearby Al-Malekiyah city in north-eastern Al-Hasakah. Several U.S. armoured vehicles were stationed on the road to Smelka crossing on the Syria-Iraq border and blocked the Russian patrol which was on its way to the border crossing.
