Security crackdowns in rural Deir ez-Zor | SDF raids six river crossings, confiscating ferries prepared for smuggling into regime-controlled areas

Reliable sources have told the Syrian Observatory that SDF stormed and destroyed six river crossings and confiscated the ferries through which most of the fuel and crude oil supplies are transported.

Islamic State members and various types of weapons are also smuggled via these crossings.

These crossings link the areas of Al-Shuhayl, Hawaij and Al-Zar, which controlled by SDF, with areas on the other bank which are administratively a part of the city of Al-Mayadeen, which is controlled by the regime forces and militias loyalists. This raid comes as a part of SDF security campaign in Deir ez-Zor countryside.

On July 17, reliable sources told SOHR that SDF stormed river crossings used for smuggling goods from areas under their control to regime-held areas on the opposite bank. The raiding forces confiscated ferries with cargoes in them prepared for being smuggled. However, the confiscated ferries and cargoes were taken to unknown destination.
