Turkish-backed factions’ repression | Al-Sham Corps arrests aid worker in Afrin for “critical post on social media”

Reliable sources have informed the Syrian Observatory that an aid worker was arrested at Deir Ballot checkpoint of Al-Sham Corps, which is close to Turkey, in Afrin countryside. The aid worker was arrested for “publishing a post on social media” in which he criticized the decision of prohibiting civilians from traveling from the areas of “Olive Branch” operation to areas under the control of HTS, unless getting an approval by “Jendires Local Council”.

Yesterday, reliable sources informed the Syrian Observatory that the factions controlling the area of Afrin in north-west Aleppo countryside, issued a decree prohibiting traveling from Afrin to Idlib, unless getting “travel permit” by “Jendres local council”.

It is worth nothing that the administration of “Al-Ghazawiyah” and “Deir Ballot” crossings decided to close their doors for civilians’ movement, not for military personnel, starting from Friday morning, July 17, until further notice, as a part of precautionary measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
