Turkish, Russian Forces Conduct New Joint Patrol in Syria

“The patrol roamed the villages in the western countryside of Ain al-Arab (Kobane), accompanied by a Russian helicopter flying over the area,” Syrian Observatory for Human Rights cited its activists as reporting.

However, a number of children and youths closed a road and blocked the patrol before the Russian soldiers intervened and reopened the road, the monitor said, noting that the young protesters later hurled stones at the Turkish vehicles.

The two countries’ forces have previously carried out a great number of joint patrols since the new ceasefire agreement in March.

ERBIL – The Turkish and Russian forces on Monday conducted a new joint military patrol in Syria’s Aleppo countryside, a monitor said.
