HTS arrests the leader of “Jaysh Al-Sahel” and five other members for “refusing to fight in Libya”

Reliable sources have informed the Syrian Observatory that Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham arrested “Fadl Al-Libi”, the leader of “Jaysh Al-Sahel” operating under the banner of “Hurras Al-Din” jihadi organization. HTS also arrested at least five non-Syrian member of the same faction, who were escorting “Al-Libi”. “Al-Libi” and his escorts were arrested for “refusing to leave Syria and engage in fighting in Libya, at Turkish authorities’ orders”.

It is worth noting that “Jaysh Al-Sahel” operates in the Syrian coastline under the banner of “Hurras Al-Din” organization. The faction comprises some 300 members led by “Fadl Al-Libi” who has been in Syria since 2013.

On Monday, SOHR sources said that HTS deployed in former positions and posts of the jihadist organization “Huras al-Din” and allied jihadi factions in Sahl Al-Ghab in north-west Hama countryside.

This development came weeks after the withdrawal of “Huras Al-Din” from the area, where all heavy and medium weapons and members were withdrawn. The destination of the withdrawals remains unknown to date.

According to Observatory sources, this withdrawal came at the Turkish intelligence’s orders to HTS, as the Russians had threatened to launch a military operation in the area.
