As Russian-Turkish joint patrol on M4 canceled for unknown reasons, Turkish forces patrolling the highway alone

Reliable sources have told SOHR that the Russian-Turkish joint patrol, supposed to tour Aleppo-Latakia international highway (M4), has been canceled for the second consecutive day for unknown reasons. Meanwhile, Turkish forces conducted a patrol alone on the M4 highway, starting from Al-Nayreb to Ain Hour village.

This patrol comes after yesterday’s deployment by Turkish forces along the M4 highway in preparation for running a joint patrol with the Russians.

Yesterday, Observatory activists monitored deployment by Turkish forces along Aleppo-Latakia international highway (M4), as Turkish soldiers were deployed in the southern and western countryside of Idlib. This development came as a part of preparations for running a new joint patrol with Russian forces on the M4 highway.

On July 22, Observatory sources confirmed that the Russian and Turkish forces carried out a new joint patrol on Aleppo-Latakia international highway (M4). The patrol set off from Tarnabeh village in eastern Idlib to Ain Hoor area, the last stop on the highway in rebel-held areas.

Accordingly, the 22nd joint patrol accomplished one of the terms of the Russian-Turkish agreement struck on March 5, regarding patrolling the entire M4 highway.
