Ras Al-Ain (Sere Kaniye) | Car-bomb explodes in Tal Halaf, leaving over 20 casualties

SOHR activists have reported hearing a loud explosion in the Turkish-controlled town of Tal Halaf in “Peace Spring” areas. the explosion was caused by the detonation of a car-bomb in the joint checkpoint of “Tal Arqam” affiliated to Al-Hamzat Division and the Civil Police in western Tal Halaf in Ras Al-Ain countryside, north of Al-Hasakah.

 

SOHR initial reports confirmed that the explosion killed six persons, including members of the checkpoint, while over 15 other civilians and military personnel sustained various injuries.

 

Yesterday, SOHR activists documented a spike in the number of people who were killed in the explosion of a booby-trapped motorcycle in Ras Al-Ain (Sere Kaniye) in the previous day, as the total number of fatalities rose to three (two civilians and a rebel fighter). According to SOHR statistics, 15 persons mostly civilians were killed in four explosions which hit Ras Al-Ain city in just one week. The explosions also injured at least 32 persons, some seriously.

 

This series of successive blasts was initiated on July 22 with a car-bomb explosion near Al-Jawzah roundabout and near the “Civil Council” building. The explosion killed four civilians at that time, including a woman, and injured ten others. Two days later, a booby-trapped motorcycle exploded in Ras Al-Ain city, which caused material damage only.

 

On July 26, a booby-trapped motorcycle exploded near the city’s fodder storehouse, which killed eight people, including a child and a woman, and injured 19 others. Meanwhile, three persons were killed in the fourth blast which took place on Tuesday after the explosion of a booby-trapped vehicle.
