The Syrian Observatory For Human Rights

Revealed | US-backed SDF Commandos forces contain children

Syrian Observatory continues monitoring and tracking the issue of recruitment of children in military factions in areas under the control of the “Autonomous Administration” and Syria Democratic Forces.

Very reliable SOHR sources have confirmed that there are children in the ranks of the “Commandos” forces. These children are under the age of 18. However, “Komin” (communes or local committees) counterfeits these children’s date of birth exploiting the lack of their personal documents.

It worth noting that the salary of each fighter in “Commandos” forces reaches nearly 450,000 SYL. Moreover, these forces are supported and sponsored by US forces, and they undergo periodical training courses in camps in Al-Hasakah.

On July 14, SOHR sources reported that recruitment of children is still on the march, despite all the repeated calls and appeals by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights to the Autonomous Administration and SDF to stop recruiting children in areas under their control,

Reliable SOHR sources confirmed that “Al-Shabiba Al-Thawriyah” (The Revolutionary Youth) continued to recruit children and was keeping children it recruited previously.

We, at the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, renew our appeals to the Autonomous Administration and SDF which are responsible for this region, to stop recruiting children which is considered a crime against childhood. We also call upon UNICEF to interfere immediately in order to protect children, keep them away from military actions, and bring back the recruited children to their families.

We also reconfirm that SOHR sides only with the Syrian people of all backgrounds (ethnic, sectarian and religious), and we will continue defending their rights and tracking all the violations against them throughout Syria, despite all the smear campaigns and inflammatory statements.
