Eid al-Adha rites | Severe poverty and doubling the prices of Eid sacrifices deprive Idlib residents of meat

Idlib areas have seen a low demand for the purchase of Eid sacrifices, due to the poor economic conditions of people.

SOHR sources say that the meat of the Eid sacrifices did not enter the homes of citizens until the evening of the first day of Eid al-Adha, due to the widespread poverty and the increasing number of displaced people in the remaining geographical area in Idlib.

The people of Idlib countryside hope to get meat of the Eid sacrifices this year, after they were deprived of meat for weeks and months, as meat became a dream for hundreds of families in Idlib countryside, as the price of the lamb meat rose to 18,000 Syrian pounds per kilo.

The prices of Eid sacrifices in Idlib countryside have reached unprecedented levels compared to the previous year, and are three times higher than last year.

This year, the prices of Eid sacrifices ranged from 400 to 600,000 Syrian pounds and 7,500 Syrian pounds per kilo of live sheep, while the price of the Eid sacrifice was only 200,000 Syrian pounds last year, depriving thousands of families of the sacrifice meal this year.
