Military escalation | Russian airstrikes pave the way for fierce attack by regime forces on Al-Haddadah frontlines

Fierce clashes are underway between opposition factions and jihadi groups on one hand, and regime forces and loyalists on the other, on several frontlines in Al-Haddadah in Jabal Al-Akrad, north of Latakia.

The clashes come as a part of the fierce attack unleashed by regime forces under a cover of intensive rocket fire, along with intensive airstrikes by Russian jets on conflict zones and other positions in Jabal Al-Akrad.

SOHR activists monitored this afternoon Russian jets flying over the northern countryside of Latakai this after noon, along with executing several airstrikes on the hills of Kabana and Al-Haddadah frontline in Jabal Al-Akrad.

Meanwhile, the areas of Kabana, Al-Tuffahiya and Al-Haddadah came under intensive artillery and rocket fire power  by regime forces. This escalation came after the great fatalities which regime forces sustained during the failed infiltration attempt into Al-Haddadah frontlines this dawn.

SOHR sources reported earlier this morning that opposition factions, Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham and other jihadi groups thwarted an attempt be regime forces to advance into Tal Al-Haddadah area in Jabal Al-Akrad in the northern countryside of Latakia. Regime forces attempted to sneak this dawn into rebel positions, but the factions and HTS ambushed them targeting the group with intensive fire power using rocket-propelled grenades and heavy machineguns. Regime fallback positions also came under rebel bombardment.

The clashes and bombardment lasted for hours leaving great fatalities. SOHR activists documented the killing of 12 regime soldiers and loyalists, in addition to injuries to over 17 others. Four HTS members and two others of the “National Liberation Front” were also killed.
