“De-escalation zone” | Fierce clashes continue in Jabal Al-Zawiyah, leaving more casualties

Syrian Observatory activists have monitored frequent flights of armed Turkish reconnaissance drones over the northern countryside of Latakia and other areas in the eastern countryside of Idlib. These flights coincided with ongoing fierce clashes on frontlines in Jabal Al-Akrad between opposition factions and jihadi groups on one hand, and regime forces and loyalists on the other.

The clashes come as a part of a fresh attempt by regime forces to advance into rebel positions under a cover of intensive aerial and ground fire power, after a failed attempt earlier this morning.

The fierce clashes and intensive bombardment left many casualties on both sides.

SOHR sources reported hours ago that fierce clashes were underway between opposition factions and jihadi groups on one hand, and regime forces and loyalists on the other, on several frontlines in Al-Haddadah in Jabal Al-Akrad, north of Latakia.

The clashes came as a part of the fierce attack unleashed by regime forces under a cover of intensive rocket fire, along with intensive airstrikes by Russian jets on conflict zones and other positions in Jabal Al-Akrad.

SOHR activists monitored earlier this afternoon Russian jets flying over the northern countryside of Latakai this after noon, along with executing several airstrikes on the hills of Kabana and Al-Haddadah frontline in Jabal Al-Akrad. This escalation came after the great fatalities which regime forces sustained during the failed infiltration attempt into Al-Haddadah frontlines this dawn.
