Jabal Al-Zawiyah battles leave many regime soldiers dead or wounded, amid frequent flights by Russian reconnaissance drones over Turkey-Syria border

SOHR activists have monitored fierce clashes in the early hours of Wednesday morning between jihadi groups and rebel factions on one hand, and regime forces and loyalists on the other, in Al-Fterah frontlines in Jabal Al-Zawiyah.

The clashes, which left three regime soldiers dead and three others wounded, followed regime attempt to advance into positions of the rebels and jihadists. Two members of jihadi groups were also killed in the same clashes.

Meanwhile, reconnaissance drones were seen flying near the Turkey-Syria border over the areas of Sarmada, Al-Dana, Deir Hassan and areas in the western countryside Aleppo.

Yesterday, SOHR activists say that the factions of “Al-Fateh al-Mubin” operations room fired several rockets on positions where regime heavy gears were stationed nearby Kafr Nubl in Idlib countryside. Meanwhile, Ansar al-Tawhid jihadi faction attacked Al-Zaytoun camp near Kafr Nubl town where regime forces and Russian-backed militiamen were stationed.

Jihadi factions also fired mortars on regime positions at al-Burkan checkpoint in Jabal al-Akrad, north of Latakia. These developments came as part of the factions’ response to violations by regime forces and their repeated bombardment on the “de-escalation zone”.

On the other hand, regime forces shelled the outskirts of Deir Sonbol town in Idlib countryside and other frontlines in Jabal al-Zawiya. No casualties were reported.

Regime forces fired several rockets earlier that morning, targeting areas in Kansafra, Al-Faterah, Al-Mawzara and other areas in Jabal Al-Zawiyah. Meanwhile, opposition factions shelled regime positions in Kafr Nubl and Hantotin in the southern countryside of Idlib.

On the other hand, opposition factions shot down a reconnaissance drone in Maarbalit. Moreover, SOHR activists documented the killing of a fighter of “Suqur Al-Sham” due to regime artillery fire on Bayanin frontlines in southern Idlib.
