Security chaos in Turkish-backed areas | Anti-narcotics forces clash with wanted persons in rural Azaz

Aleppo Province – The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:

SOHR sources say that clashes with machine guns took place this evening between members of anti-narcotics forces of the security directorate in the city of Azaz and a group of wanted persons accused of drug trafficking and promoting in Al-Qatari camp near the town of Shamarin in areas held by Turkish-backed factions, north of Aleppo. The clashes resulted in injuries on both sides.

On July 28, SOHR sources reported that the Turkish-backed military police and factions of the “National Army” launched a new security campaign in Al-Bab city in the north-eastern countryside of Aleppo.

The security campaign, which came with the purpose of arresting several suspected of “corruption and gun possession”, sparked fierce clashes between the rebels and military police on one hand, and gunmen from “Aal Waki” family (a prominent family in Al-Bab city) on the other. The clashes, accompanied by exchange of fire, ignited a state of panic among the city’s residents.
