Aleppo | Tension rises between “Al-Sham Corps” and “Al-Jabha Al-Shamiyyah” over levy-sharing at Al-Ghazawiyyah crossing

SOHR sources say that tension is growing nearby Al-Ghazawiyyah crossing separating areas under the control of Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham and opposition factions from areas control by the Turkish forces and their proxies in southern Afrin in Aleppo countryside.

According to SOHR sources, the Turkish-backed faction of “Al-Jabha Al-Shamiyyah” established a checkpoint near Al-Ghazawiyyah crossing, in order to collect levies from commercial trucks and vehicles traveling on the road to the crossing. “Al-Sham Corps” rejected this action as the new checkpoint is located in areas under the control of the corps, which pushed it to bring in military reinforcement to the area.

Meanwhile, “Al-Jabha Al-Shamiyyah” also brought in military reinforcement to the recently-established checkpoint, along with a palpable feeling that a new rivalry is looming.

It is worth noting that Al-Ghazawiyyah crossing is under the control of the Turkish-backed Al-Sham Corps which imposes levies on all commercial vehicles which passing through the crossing. The corps also imposes a levy of 500 SYL on civilian cars.
