After disbanding and arresting its leader | Residents of Tal Rifaat demonstrate demanding the release of 23rd Division’s leader and members

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has monitored this evening residents of the city of Tal Rifaat holding a demonstration near the roundabout of the town of Sajo, north of Aleppo, demanding “Al-Jabha Al-Shamiyyah” the release of the 23rd Division’s commander, who was arrested after the elimination of the Division.

Reliable SOHR sources have confirmed that “Al-Jabha Al-Shamiyyah” disbanded the faction of “23rd Division” most of whose fighters are from Tal Rifaat city in the northern countryside of Aleppo. “Al-Jabha Al-Shamiyyah” stormed the headquarters of the “23rd Division” in Afrin and Azaz which are under the control of Turkish forces and their proxies.

According to SOHR sources, “Al-Jabha Al-Shamiyyah” accused the “23rd Division” of “inciting hatred and strife, abetting infighting, and comprising corrupt officials”.

Accordingly, “Al-Jabha Al-Shamiyyah” launched a security campaign on the area controlled by division where it arrested several first class commanders and members, including the division’s leader with some of his escorts in the areas of “Peace Spring” in northern Aleppo, which led to the complete disbandment of the “23rd Division”.

The division’s other members, who have not been arrested, were sent to join the ranks of other formation operating under the banner the “3rd Corps” of the Turkish-backed “National Army”.
