Old ordnance | Explosion injures three children in northern Hama

SOHR activists have documented the injury of three children in the explosion of an old landmine in the regime-controlled village of Buraydij in the northern countryside of Hama.

 

Yesterday, SOHR activists documented the killing of a child and the injury of his brother in the explosion of an old landmine nearby Al-Ziyyarah village in north-western Hama.

 

While on Friday, a child was killed and five persons of his family were injured, mostly women and children, after an explosion believed to be caused by the explosion of old unexploded ordnance and mines in a civilian house in Jisr Al-Shughur. The explosion caused substantial destruction in the site of the explosion, in addition to causing material damage to surrounding houses.

 

Syrian Observatory activists have documented the death of 317 people including 65 women and 97 children, by mines and IED explosions and the collapse of cracked residential buildings in several areas of the Syrian territory in Homs, Hama, Deir Ezzor, Aleppo and the Syrian South since early January 2019.

 

Among the total death toll, there are 45 persons, including 30 women and five children, were killed during their search and collection of the truffle which grows in the areas that is subjected to heavy rain, and it is sold at very high prices.
