Coronavirus outbreaks in regime-held areas | The number of confirmed cases rises to 5,000, 443 die so far, while authorities continue misinformation

At a time when the number of coronavirus cases is noticeably rising in regime-controlled areas, the Syrian regime is still following the policy of misinformation. Regime authorities refrain from acknowledging the real number of deaths and infection cases with coronavirus, although the novel pandemic has overwhelmed all Syrian provinces, especially in Damascus, Rif Dimashq and other major provinces. Reliable medical sources have informed SOHR that over 215 infection cases were recorded in the past few hours, while 8 other persons died.

According to SOHR statistics, based on reports obtained from reliable medical sources in regime-controlled areas, the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases has reached 4,985. 550 of which have recovered while 443 people have died of coronavirus.

The cases are distributed in all Syrian provinces. However, most of the deaths and infection cases have been in Damascus and Rif Dimashq.

Yesterday, SOHR sources reported that hundreds of new coronavirus cases were recorded in regime-controlled areas over the previous three days. while dozens died of the coronavirus. The increase in the number of infection cases and deaths came at a time when the healthcare system in regime-controlled areas has been unable to cope with the pandemic, amid continued misinformation by the regime regarding the outbreak of the pandemic in areas under its control.
