Deir Ezzor | Regime gunfire injures two civilians while swimming in Euphrates River

Syrian Observatory activists have documented the injury of two civilians after being shot by regime forces, while they were swimming in the Euphrates River in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor. The two men sustained slight injuries as regime forces stationed on the river’s bank opposite Gharanij town opened fire on them.

On July 24, Syria Democratic Forces installed observation outposts near river crossings between the two banks of the Euphrates River. It is not known yet if these posts were installed in this area to prevent the smuggling operations from Al-Shuhayl town in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor to the regime-controlled town of Baqrus, or they had other tasks.
