Large-scale security operations | Backed by Russian air support, regime forces sweep east Hama countryside, searching for ISIS cells
Syrian Observatory sources reported that regime forces and loyal militias, backed by Russian air support, launched a large-scale security campaign in the Syrian desert in the eastern countryside of Hama. Regime forces started sweeping the area searching for ISIS cell whose activities escalated recently in this area and unleashed several attacks inflicting great fatalities among regime forces and loyalists.
Meanwhile, regime forces and loyal militias established several checkpoints and outposts, along with the flight of Russian helicopters over the area.
A few days ago, SOHR sources reported that fierce clashes with machineguns, erupted between the regime-backed “National Defence Forces” (NDF) and unknown gunmen, but believed to be ISIS members, in Jib Abyad village in the eastern countryside of Hama.
According to SOHR sources, the clashes came in the wake of kidnapping four persons from Abu Laffah village in the same countryside. One of the kidnapped managed to escape and informed the NDF of the place and location where the rest of kidnapping people were being held.
