Russian-Iranian rivalry | Russian forces seek to eliminate Iranian militias at “Aleppo Artery”

Regime forces and loyalists have been continuing the security campaign they started yesterday, at Russia’s orders, in the eastern countryside of Hama in the Syrian desert. Sweeping operations are underway in the area, in search for the wanted.

 

According to SOHR sources, the wanted figures are of the Iranian-backed Syrian militiamen who are seeking protection in the area which is under the control of the Iranians, exactly an area on Athariyah-Khanaser highway known as “Aleppo Artery”. It is worth noting that these Iranian-backed militias comprise ex-ISIS fighters who reconciled with the regime’s security services and joined later to these militias.

 

“Russia is seeking to take the control of the entire area and put an end to the Iranian presence there, especially the area on “Aleppo Artery,” SOHR sources added.
