Afrin | Ice-cream vendor beaten brutally by “Ahrar Al-Sham” in Jendires

SOHR activists have reported that an ice-cream vendor was beaten brutally by members of “Ahrar Al-Sham Islamic Movement” stationed at a checkpoint in Jendires district in Afrin countryside, north-western Aleppo.

The members of the checkpoint seized the hawker’s money and ice cream and beat him, then they released him. The motives behind this action have yet to be known.

SOHR sources had reported that the Turkish-backed faction of “Al-Sham Corps” arrested a civilian from “Jaqmaq” village in Rajo district in rural Afrin, north-west of Aleppo.

According to Observatory sources, the civilian was arrested following accusations against him of “apostasy”, after the death of his wife in late July, as his wife had converted earlier to Christianity.

The gunmen of the faction had prevented the deceased wife’s relatives from burying her in accordance with the customs and traditions of the people of the region, which triggered her husband’s anger. The man was arrested following this incident and faced charges of converting to Christianity, while his fate remained unknown.
