Deir Ezzor | SDF and regime forces trade fire on Euphrates River’s banks

Syrian Observatory sources have reported that exchange of fire took place in the early hours of Friday morning, between SDF members stationed on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River, west of Al-Tayyanah town in the east of Deir Ezzor, and regime forces on the opposite bank. No casualties have been reported.

A few days ago, SOHR sources reported that SDF members opened fire on rafts near the river crossing linking the SDF-held town of Al-Shuhayl to the regime-controlled town of Baqras in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, as residents of areas under the control of SDF tried to return to their villages.

SDF have continued to prevent residents from crossing to the other bank, tightening security measures at river crossings in the area.

A day earlier, regime forces stationed on the Euphrates River’s bank opposite Gharanij town opened fire on two civilians while swimming in the river. The two men only sustained slight injuries.
