Coronavirus outbreaks in regime-held areas | New 750 infection cases detected and tens others die, while authorities continue misinformation

SOHR activists have confirmed that over 750 coronavirus cases have been recorded in regime-held areas in the past few hours and days, while 31 other persons died. In the meantime, regime authorities continue their lies concerning the real number of deaths and infection cases with coronavirus.

According to SOHR medical sources, the infection cases has been considerably risen in Aleppo province in the past few day, bringing the province to the top of the list of provinces with the largest number of infection cases, after Damascus and Rif Dimashq, along with deteriorating healthcare situation.

According to SOHR statistics, based on reports obtained from reliable medical sources in regime-controlled areas, the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases has reached nearly 5,735. 600 of which have recovered while 474 people have died of coronavirus.

The cases are distributed in all Syrian provinces. However, most of the deaths and infection cases have been in Damascus and Rif Dimashq.

SOHR activists have monitored growing popular anger in regime-held areas over the government’s handling of the virus as it continues keeping the real number of infection cases secret and has not imposed the needed precautionary measures. In addition, these areas suffer from deteriorating medical services, amid fears of the collapse of the already dilapidated healthcare system.

Furthermore,  regime-controlled areas experience dramatic living conditions because of the prohibitively high prices, deteriorating economic conditions, unemployment and lack of job opportunities, in addition to the frequent interruption of electricity.
