Popular anger | Tension rises between residents and “Self-Defense Forces” following car accident in eastern Deir Ezzor

Reliable sources have informed SOHR that a vehicle of the “Self-Defense Forces” hit a civilian motorcycle in Jadid Bakarah village in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor. No casualties have been reported. The village’s residents gathered in the site of the crash and broke up the dispute between the both sides.

Members of the “Self-Defense Forces” headed later to a petrol station owned by a man of those who mediated to break up the dispute, and demanded him bring the owner of the motorcycle. In the meantime, a commander of “Deir Ezzor Military Council” came to the petrol station to put an end to the dispute in the station, but members of the “Self-Defense Forces” opened fire heavily on the petrol station, injuring a worker in the station before they escaped.

A short time later, members of “Deir Ezzor Military Council” and residents from Jadid Bakarah village confiscated all weapons in the “Self-Defense Forces” posts in the village, demanding the names of members who opened fire on the fuel station. Meanwhile, tension is still growing in the village.
