Preparing for setting up Russian-Turkish joint observation post | Rebels evacuate military and security headquarters in Um Ushbeh village near frontlines with SDF

Reliable sources have informed the Syrian Observatory that Turkish-backed factions have withdrawn from most of their security headquarters in Um Ushbeh area in “Peace Spring” areas in rural Al-Hasakeh.

According to SOHR sources, about 20 fighters, including eight Turks and the rest of the Turkish-backed “Northern Hawks” faction remained in the village of Um Ushbeh, while most of the members withdrew in the past days and hours. 

Work is under way to complete the withdrawal of Turkish-backed factions from all positions on the frontlines with SDF, in preparation for setting up the joint Russian-Turkish observation post near the village of Um Ushbeh.

On August 7, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored the withdrawal of a part of military reinforcement brought by Turkish forces and proxy factions, on the frontlines of um Ushbeh and Bab al-Khair in Abu Racine countryside (Zarkan). While the previous forces and guard posts deployed along the frontline with SDF remained in place.

At the end of June, SOHR sources reported that Turkish-backed factions stationed in the villages of Um Ushba and Bab al-Khair on the one hand, and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) with regime forces stationed in Abu Racine and countryside on the other, were put on high alert.

This development coincided with massive military reinforcement by the two sides on those frontlines.
