Al-Raqqah | Turkish-backed factions shell SDF-controlled areas in Tal Abyad

SOHR activists have monitored rocket fire by Turkish-backed factions on SDF-controlled areas in the western countryside of Tal Abyad, north of Al-Raqqah, in the early hours of Saturday morning. No casualties have been reported.

On August 18, SOHR activists documented the killing of one woman and the injury of another one, after being attacked by Turkish soldiers stationed at a security checkpoint in Al-Malla village of Hamam al-Turkmen area in Tal Abyad countryside, while they were heading from Al-Raqqah city to their village.

On August 10, SOHR sources said that members of the Turkish-backed “Ahrar Al-Sharqiya” faction raided positions in “Ali Bagley” village in the southern countryside of Tal Abyad, in order to arrest a person for “dealing with SDF”. However, the village’s residents refused to hand this person over and demonstrated against the Turkish-backed militiamen. Meanwhile, the factions’ members tried to disperse the demonstration and opened fire indiscriminately, injuring two people.
