Routine occurrence | Russian and U.S. patrols chase each other, north-east of Syria

SOHR activists have reported that the perimeter of the town of Al-Malikia on the Syria-Turkey border in the far north-east of Syria, has witnessed a chase between Russian and American patrols, in light of the ongoing tension between American and Russian forces in the northern and eastern regions of Syria, in a scene that has become almost daily routine.

Yesterday, Syrian Observatory activists monitored a Russian patrol of several military vehicles, escorted by a helicopter, roaming “Kani Karak” village in Al-Malikiyyah countryside near the Syria-Turkey border in the far north-eastern Syria. Meanwhile, US patrols have been stationed on the main roads to Al-Malikiyyah and Rumaylan towns in order to block the Russian patrols, if they take these road to Smelka crossing on the border with Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
