ISIS resurgence | Fierce clashes erupt between regime forces and ISIS in Deir Ezzor desert, while communication lost with NDF group

Syrian Observatory sources say that fierce clashes erupted today in positions in the western countryside of Deir Ezzor in Syria desert, between regime forces and loyal militias on one hand, and ISIS members on the other. The clashes was coincided with exchange of shelling between both sides.

 

On the other hand, all contacts with a group of the regime-backed National Defence Forces (NDF), including a commander, were lost and the fate of group’s militiamen remained unknown.

 

Yesterday, reliable sources informed the Syrian Observatory that a joint group of militiamen loyal to regime forces and Russians went missing in Al-Mayadeen desert in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor.

 

According to Observatory sources, members of the Palestinian militia “Liwaa Al-Quds” and National Defense Forces had gone to the Jouif area in al-Mayadeen desert in order to sweep the area searching for ISIS members, before contact with the group were lost.

 

In the meantime, the militias sent dozens of military vehicles backed by equipment and militants to search for the missing group.
