Deir Ezzor | Little girl dies and two women injured while attempting to cross into regime-controlled areas

Syrian Observatory activists have documented the killing of a little girl and the injury of two women, after members of Syria Democratic Forces had opened fire on a ferry transporting people at the river crossing in Darnaj town in eastern Deir Ezzor. The crossing separates SDF-held areas in eastern Euphrates region from areas under the control of regime forces in western Euphrates.

It is worth noting that the girl is from Al-Sha’faa village in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzir, and she has been on her way with her relatives to Damascus for receiving treatment.

On August 26, SOHR sources said that SDF stormed river crossings used for smuggling people and fuel between areas under their control and regime-controlled areas across the Euphrates River, near al-Karama village in the eastern part of Raqqa city.

According to Syrian Observatory sources, SDF arrested four smugglers during the raid on that day.

While on July 22, SOHR activists said that three SDF  members were injured in a deliberate shooting by an official responsible for crossings used for smuggling, during a raid on the river crossings in Al-Latweh neighbourhood between the towns of Theban and Al-Tayyanah in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor.
