Coronavirus in regime-held areas | The number of confirmed cases exceeds 16,000, 800 die so far, while authorities continue misinformation

As regime authorities continue misinformation and keeping the real number of deaths and infection cases with coronavirus secret, Syrian Observatory activists have documented thousands of new Covid-19 cases in regime-held areas in the past few days. It is worth noting that the virus outbreaks throughout the Syrian provinces, especially Aleppo, Damascus and Rif Dimashq, amid deteriorating medical services.

 

According to SOHR statistics, based on reports obtained from reliable medical sources in regime-controlled areas, the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases has reached nearly 16,100, of whom 1,950  recovered, and 810 died. The cases are distributed across all Syrian provinces. However, most of the deaths and infections have been in Aleppo, Damascus and Rif Dimashq.
