Coronavirus | Total number of infected people jumps to 89 in north-western Syria, as nine new cases recorded

Health authorities have recorded nine new coronavirus cases in north-western Syria, three of which have been recorded in Aleppo countryside, one case in Marea, one case in Souran, one case in Al-Bab and six cases in Idlib.

According to Observatory statistics, the number of confirmed cases, since July 9 to date, rose to 89, including two doctors were residing in Turkey.

Breakdown of the cases is as follows: 39 cases, including medical staff in HTS-held areas in Idlib, parts of Aleppo, Hama and Latakia, and 48 cases in the areas controlled by Turkish-backed factions, north of Aleppo.

While recovery cases in north-western Syria have risen to 61.

On August 18, health authorities documented the death of an elderly woman infected with the coronavirus in al-Dana town in Idlib countryside.
