Prisoners release | Brokered by tribal dignitaries, SDF releases some 350 prisoners detained in al-Hawl camp

SOHR sources say that the SDF released some 350 people who were held in al-Hawl camp, mostly residents of the eastern towns of Deir ez-Zor, brokered by tribal elders in the area.

At the end of August, reliable sources informed the Syrian Observatory that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have released dozens of detainees from Deir ez-Zor, who were arrested during last periods, as part of SDF security campaigns with the International Coalition in Deir ez-Zor.

The release came after popular pressure and demonstrations demanded the realese of detainees who were imprisoned without a trial or clear charges.

On July 30, Observatory sources reported that the administration of “Al-Hawl camp” in the south-eastern Al-Hasakah allowed a new batch of ISIS families from Dier Ezzor to leave the camp. 

41 families of some 150 persons, mostly women and children, were brought out of the camp to their areas in Deir Ezzor, after mediation by the area’s tribe elders and under their guarantee.
