Reveals | SOHR uncovers Turkish-backed factions’ involvement in stealing and transporting property and crops from “Peace Spring” areas to Turkey

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has monitored the ongoing theft and looting of property in the areas of “Peace Spring”. Turkish-backed factions continue to steal the full contents of civilians’ homes in al-Shirkeh village in Ras al-Ain countryside, in addition to stealing public property and electricity grid cables to extract metal, copper and aluminum, smelt them into bullions, and sell them as scrap metal on Turkish markets

Observatory sources in Ras al-Ain countryside have reported that the transfers of these minerals and grain are carried out under Turkish sponsorship and being implemented by Turkish-backed factions and the military police commander in Ras al-Ain called “Abu Enad”, in addition to his brothers and partners. One of them named “Ibrahim al-Salem”, a resident from the village of Manjed in Ras al-Ain countryside, who is responsible for the trade and theft of wheat and electrical wires.

And Al-Bowayda’s village chief, “Taha Mohammed Saadoun”, who urges the police chief “Abu Enad” to impose levies on the wealthy people in the area.

A few days ago, the Syrian Observatory monitored members of the Turkish-backed al-Hamza Division packing wheat bags from silos near the Ras al-Ain crossing, for transfer to Turkey.

On September 1, Turkish security forces arrested an official of Turkish-backed factions in Tal Abyad while trying to smuggle more than 100 cellular devices from the Syrian side into Turkey.
