It is worth noting that one of Kayali’s escorts was killed and two others were injured, after an explosion hit them while they were traveling on Salanfah- Latakia highway. The nature of the explosion remained unknown whether being caused by the detonation of an IED by unknown individuals, as the “Popular Front for the Liberation of Iskenderun Region” claimed just before an opposition faction claimed responsibility of the attack, or caused by the rocket attacks on Salanfah at that time.
