Syria: Fierce Clashes Erupt Between Regime Forces and IS

ERBIL – Fierce clashes were reported between the Syrian regime forces and the jihadists of the Islamic State (IS) in eastern Homs countryside, a monitor said on Monday.

The clashes erupted in al-Sukhnah desert, east of Homs countryside, to al-Shawal and Raqqa to the north of the country, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

“The clashes are concentrated recently in “Wadi Al-Dabiyyat” and the surrounding areas of “Al-Hail” oil field in the eastern countryside of Homs,” the monitor added.

“On the other hand, SOHR sources also monitored intensive airstrikes by Russian jets on ISIS positions in Syrian desert,” it continued.
