Coronavirus in regime-held areas | The number of confirmed cases exceeds 21,000, 1,040 die so far, while authorities continue misinformation

As regime authorities continue misinformation and keeping the real number of deaths and infection cases with coronavirus secret, Syrian Observatory is monitoring and tracking the developments of coronavirus outbreaks in regime-held areas. Over 3,300 new Covid-19 cases have been recorded in regime-held areas in the past few days, while 145 other cases died of the virus in the same period. Meanwhile, most of the infection cases and deaths are still documented in the provinces of Aleppo, Damascus and Rif Dimashq, amid disastrous medical situation.

 

According to SOHR statistics, based on reports obtained from reliable medical sources in regime-controlled areas, the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases has reached nearly 21,100, of whom 2,850  recovered, and 1,040 died. The cases are distributed across all Syrian provinces. However, most of the deaths and infections have been in Aleppo, Damascus and Rif Dimashq.
