IED attacks | Explosion targets prominent “reconciliation” figure in Zakyah, Rif Dimashq

Rif Dimashq Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: SOHR activists have reported hearing an explosion this morning in Zakyah town in the western Rif Dimashq. The explosion was caused by the detonation of an IED planted earlier below the car of a prominent figure, who mediated reconciliation deals between opposition fighters and the Syrian regime in the area. The explosion took place while the targeted person was getting in his car, which injured him seriously, and he was taken later to a hospital in the capital, Damascus.

On September 11, reliable sources in Douma city in Rif Dimashq informed SOHR that unknown gunmen on a motorcycle opened machinegun fire on a checkpoint of the regime’s intelligence service. The attack, which took place on Wednesday near the “Municipal Stadium” in Douma city, resulted in the injury of three regime soldiers, one seriously, and they were taken later to hospitals in Damascus.

According to SOHR sources, regime soldiers stationed at the targeted checkpoint are used to repressing, humiliating, and insulting people of Douma, in addition to harassing women almost daily.
