Deir ez-Zor | SDF arrests six smugglers smuggling 120 sheep into regime-held areas
Deir ez-Zor Governorate- Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:
SOHR activists say that SDF and the Deir ez-Zor Military Council arrested six smugglers in the town of Al-Baguz, east of Deir ez-Zor, near the Euphrates river bank in the Al-Khanfara-Rahbiyan area, while trying to smuggle 120 sheep into regime-controlled areas on the opposite bank of the Euphrates river.
In July, reliable sources told the Syrian Observatory that SDF stormed and destroyed six river crossings and confiscated the ferries through which most of the fuel and crude oil supplies are transported.
Islamic State members and various types of weapons are also smuggled via these crossings.
These crossings link the areas of Al-Shuhayl, Hawaij and Al-Zar, which controlled by SDF, with areas on the other bank which are administratively a part of the city of Al-Mayadeen, which is controlled by the regime forces and militias loyalists. This raid comes as a part of SDF security campaign in Deir ez-Zor countryside.
