White Helmets ‘Targeted’ in Aleppo Strikes

Airstrikes “deliberately targeted” four facilities used by the White Helmets—the members of the Syria Civil Defense service—early Friday in Aleppo. More than 30 people were killed, including those in the group of emergency-response workers that were raided. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the initial death toll was 15, but was expected to rise with so many people still stuck under rubble. The attacks came after the end of a short-lived ceasefire that had been brokered by the U.S. and Russia, and it followed an attack on a United Nations aid convoy that had been delivering medicine and food to civilians.
