Standing up to strife in their regions | Albu Kamal activists form political gathering in Deir ez-Zor countryside

SOHR sources say that a group of Deir ez-Zor activists in the city of Abu Hammam in eastern countryside of the province have set up a political, service and development gathering, under the name of “The Gathering of the people of Al-Bukamal and Democratic Countryside”.

The statement called on the eastern Euphrates’ people to stand together in the face of the strife in their regions. The founding statement adopted slogans such as (development, stability, sustainable peace).

The founding statement of “The Gathering of the people of Al-Bukamal and Democratic Countryside” reads:

“Based on the events that the areas of eastern rural Deir ez-Zor are going through, which revealed the truth about the plots in our regions targeting all components of the region, as the Iranians have been trying to spread strife, especially in Deir ez-Zor, which is meant to be a gateway to let Iranian militias into our regions, as part of the security chaos.

As we attach importance to the voice of reason, and working to stabilize and develop our regions, and taking care of the situation of our people in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, and to ensure their voice is heard and express their problems and needs on service, development and health levels.

As we believe in the democratic change for Syria and closing the chapter of the tyranny that the Syrian regime has pursued for decades, a group of people in the region has called for a civil, social, service and developmental political gathering under the name of “The Gathering of the people of Al-Bukamal and Democratic Countryside”, believing in the principles of coexistence, ensuring  that the idea of sustainable peace between all components of al-Jazeera area and the Euphrates is possible as a model for Syria as a democratic, decentralized and unified state”.
