HTS security campaigns in Idlib | Senior Iraqi ISIS commander killed in Salqin

Idlib Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: Reliable SOHR sources have disclosed new details about the identities of the two persons who were found dead on Friday in Salqin area in the north-western countryside of Idlib. The bodies of the two fatalities belonged to a senior Iraqi commander of the “Islamic State” organization and his escort (ISIS member), and both were shot dead by Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham in its recent security campaign in the area.

Yesterday, Observatory activists documented a new murder near Iskenderun border, as a young man in his thirties was found dead and dumped in farmlands in Salqin city in north-western Idlib. It is worth noting that there were marks of gunshots on the victim’s body. A day earlier, a young man was found dead on the road between Harem and Salqin near Syria border with Iskenderun region in north-west of Idlib province.

On Friday, reliable sources told SOHR that security services of Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham opened fire on a person in Al-Sawma’a area in Jisr Al-Shughur city in western Idlib, then the group shot him dead when he pulled out his gun. According to SOHR sources, the killed man is a foreign ISIS member.

The security group later cordoned off the house of another foreign ISIS member in Harat Al-Masihiyyah (Christians’ alley) in Jisr Al-Shughur city where they arrested him and took him to unknown destination.
