Former Syrian opposition leader survives assassination attempt in Syria’s Aleppo

Unknown gunmen shot a former leader of the Hamzat group, Khalid Othman, near the city’s garage.

As a result of the shooting, he and his son were wounded, along with another woman.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights stated that the target was a former leader in the Hamzat group, and he participated in the battles to control the northern countryside of Aleppo. He left the group as a result of being injured in clashes.

Clashes took place after midnight Sunday – Monday in Sukariya in the countryside of Bab city between Turkish-backed armed opposition groups and government forces.

In a related development, unknown gunmen targeted the car of a leader of one of the armed groups on Sunday evening in the western countryside of Idlib.

The gunmen targeted with the car of the commander known as Abu Diab of the National Front for Liberation, a Turkish-backed Syrian opposition coalition, with an RPG, near the village of Zainiya in the western countryside of Jisr al-Shughour.

The attack killed Abu Diab and wounded two of his companions while they were returning from the northern countryside of Latakia.
