Repercussions of “Daraa-Al-Suwaidaa” conflict | Regime troops deploy on administrative border between the two provinces, five days after 115 gunmen killed and wounded

Reliable SOHR sources have confirmed that regime military has deployed troops in Al-Qurayah and Samma areas in the western countryside of Al-Suwaidaa, on the administrative border with the eastern countryside of Daraa.

The recently deployed troops’ objective is to prevent any future clashes in the wake of the growing tension in the area between local gunmen from Al-Suwaidaa on one hand, and the 8th Brigade of the Russian-backed 5th Corps. It is worth noting that military operations between both sides escalated dramatically in late September, leaving over 115 casualties.

On Friday, SOHR sources reported that “Ahmed Al-Ouda” the leader of the 8th Brigade of the Russian-backed 5th Corps appeared in a video footage, of which the Syrian Observatory obtained a copy, talking about the dramatic military escalation in “Al-Arab Mountain” and “Hawaran Plain” in the western countryside of Al-Suwaidaa,

“Al-Ouda” accused Iran and the Lebanese Hezbollah of “supporting armed gangs in Al-Suwaidaa in order to wreak havoc and help them with the Iranian schemes in southern Syria region”.

“We had to think rationally and logically in order to defuse the disagreement between the adjacent provinces of Daraa and Al-Suwaidaa, but the plots of mercenaries were stronger than the wise people’s efforts” the Russian-backed commander added.

“Al-Ouda” concluded his statement saying “we will be like sharp swords eliminating every one serving to stir up strife and fighting.”

It is worth noting that at least 28 gunmen were killed and tens others were injured in the bloody clashes in western Al-Suwaidaa, near the administrative border with Daraa province, between the NDF and local factions from Al-Suwaidaa province on one hand, and the Russian-backed 5th Corps on the other.
