ISIS resurgence | Cells attack regime positions in al-Sukhna desert, and Russian airstrikes target ISIS positions in Al-Badiya

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has monitored a new attack by Islamic State cells, targeting posts and positions of regime forces and loyalists in Al-Sukhna desert, east of Homs.

The attack coincided with intensive Russian airstrikes on ISIS positions in the area, and other areas at the Hama-Aleppo-Raqqah triangle in the desert, amid confirmed reports of casualties.

Yesterday, SOHR activists reported ongoing military operations in the Syrian desert, as fierce clashes are underway in Aleppo-Hama-Al-Raqqah triangle between regime forces and ISIS. The clashes coincided with frequent flights by Russian fighter jets, executing intensive airstrikes on ISIS positions in the region.

On Saturday, Observatory sources reported raging battles between ISIS and regime forces in the Syrian desert at Aleppo-Hama-Al-Raqqah triangle. SOHR activists documented the death of eight regime soldiers in fierce clashes in Al-Rasafa desert in southern Al-Raqqah.

Meanwhile, fierce battles erupted between regime forces and ISIS cells operating in the western desert of Deir Ezzor, leaving three regime soldiers dead.

The clashes coincided with ongoing and intensive Russian airstrikes on ISIS positions in the Syrian desert.

SOHR activists also documented the death of 17 ISIS members in the same battles.
