Turkish Troops Shell Syrian Troops in Idlib: Report

Turkish troops fired artillery shells on Syrian military positions in the eastern countryside of the northwestern province of Idlib on Sunday, a war monitor reported.
The Turkish artillery shelling in Idlib targeted the Syrian military positions in the city of Saraqeb in the eastern countryside of Idlib, with no reports on losses, said the so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
The Britain-based watchdog group said the Syrian government forces also shelled positions of the Turkey-backed militants in the Zawiya mountain in the southern countryside of Idlib.
Idlib has emerged as the militants’ last major stronghold in the country.
In March, Turkey and Russia brokered a cease-fire agreement in Idlib.
In another development, at least three Turkey-backed militants were killed and seven others wounded in a car bomb explosion in northern Syria, a war monitor reported on Sunday.
The explosion ripped through a checkpoint of Turkey-backed police corps in the city of al-Bab in the northeastern countryside of Aleppo province on Saturday night, said the observatory.
The death toll will likely rise due to the number of critically wounded people.
Al-Bab and other areas in the northern countryside of Aleppo are occupied by the Turkish forces and Turkey-backed militant groups.
