Daraa | Assassination attempt on leader of Military Intelligence’s local faction in Daraa al-Balad, and unknown assailants target security detachment in Saham al-Golan

Daraa governorate – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:

SOHR activists say that unidentified gunmen targeted a leader of local factions of the Military Intelligence branch with his companion in the Sajneh neighbourhood in Daraa al-Balad city, seriously injuring them.

Meanwhile, the gunmen of the Military Intelligence branch targeted with their machine guns the homes of civilians in Daraa al-Balad and several areas in countryside. No casualties have been reported.

On the other hand, unknown assailants opened fire on a detachment of the Military Intelligence branch in the town of Saham al-Golan, west of Daraa. No casualties have been reported so far.

Yesterday, Observatory sources reported that unidentified gunmen assassinated a volunteer of the “Branch of Raids 215” of the Military Security service, in the city of Nawa in western countryside of Daraa governorate.

It is worth nothing that the victim was a fighter in opposition factions when they took control of the area. Then he joined the regime forces after striking a reconciliation deal.

This brings the number of attacks and assassination attempts in various forms and methods by detonating IEDs, landmines, booby-trapped vehicles and shootings from last June to date, to more than 704 attacks.

While the number of those who killed and died in the same period has risen to 466 persons, 128 of whom are civilians, including 12 women and 15 children, in addition to 210 regime soldiers, loyalists and collaborators with regime security services.

83 members of opposition factions were also killed, those who made “settlements and reconciliations” with the regime and became members of regime security services, including former leaders, and 23 members of Syrian militias affiliated to Lebanese “Hezbollah” and Iranian forces, in addition to 22 members of so-called “Fifth Corps”.
