Idlib | Clashes between HTS and ISIS cell leave casualties

Idlib Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: reliable sources have informed SOHR that fierce clashes are underway since the early hours of Saturday morning in Tal’ada area in northern Idlib, near the administrative border with west Aleppo countryside, between Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham and an armed group believed to be members of an ISIS cell. Meanwhile, SOHR sources have reported hearing a loud explosion in the area, believed to be caused when a member of the ISIS cell blew himself up with an explosive vest. The ongoing clashes have left casualties on both sides, while HTS have cordoned off the surrounding areas.

 

In September 27, reliable SOHR sources disclosed new details about the identities of the two persons who were found dead two days earlier in Salqin area in the north-western countryside of Idlib. The bodies of the two fatalities belonged to a senior Iraqi commander of the “Islamic State” organization and his escort (ISIS member), both were shot dead by Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham in its recent security campaign in the area.

 

A day earlier, Observatory activists documented a new murder near Iskenderun border, as a young man in his thirties was found dead and dumped in farmlands in Salqin city in north-western Idlib. It is worth noting that there were marks of gunshots on the victim’s body. A day earlier, a young man was found dead on the road between Harem and Salqin near Syria border with Iskenderun region in north-west of Idlib province.

 

On September 25, reliable sources told SOHR that security services of Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham opened fire on a person in Al-Sawma’a area in Jisr Al-Shughur city in western Idlib, then the group shot him dead when he pulled out his gun. According to SOHR sources, the killed man is a foreign ISIS member.

 

The security group later cordoned off the house of another foreign ISIS member in Harat Al-Masihiyyah (Christians’ alley) in Jisr Al-Shughur city where they arrested him and took him to unknown destination.
